Their Full Potential

"Kindermusik brings parents and children together for fun and education. The learning is active, engaging and developmentally appropriate. Children are exposed to diverse materials and are provided with rich opportunities for hands-on experiences with developmentally appropriate instruments. The joy is in the process of learning and the result is children who are more attuned in reaching their full potential."

Choosing a Class

The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik classes have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way. Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start of the semester for the class in which you are enrolling. If you have concerns about your child's success in a particular age range, I am happy to discuss your child's needs and work with you to place him in the class best suited for him.

Enjoy this special time!

Relax and enjoy the musical activities with your young child. If your child cannot focus on the activities and does not sit by your side at all times, don't worry. As long as your child is in the room, he/she is participating—and learning! Most children adore music. They love to dance, to sing and play musical instruments. However, a group music experience may be new to your child. He/she may be shy in the group—that's okay. Encourage your child to join in, but please do not be over anxious if he/she is reluctant to join the group at first. Each child responds in a unique way in the musical environment. Some will participate eagerly, while others prefer to initially observe. You may see a completely different child at home as you share your Kindermusik activities there. Most families do.

Free Visits and Demo Classes

If you have friends or family who wish to attend a class, please make arrangements in advance. I'm pleased to offer FREE demo classes for playgroups. Contact me!

When to Arrive

Punctuality is always appreciated; however, please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class begins. This allows for a smooth transition between one class to the next, and gives me time to prepare the room.

What to Bring

As a courtesy to others, toys, juice cups, and pacifiers should be kept out of sight, and snacks should be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably—we will be moving on the floor to lots of fun activities. If you are unable to set your cell phone to vibrate mode or turn it off, please take calls outside the classroom, keeping your child with you.

Non-enrolled siblings

Due to limited class sizes and the delicacy of younger class settings, Village (classes for newborn to 1.5 years) and Our Time classes (for 1.5 to 3 years) can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to stay contented in a carrier or stroller. However, emergency situations are considered, so please call if I can help. Siblings eligible to be in the same class should both be enrolled.

Sick Children

Please let your child rest at home when you note any other following within 24 hours of class: unusual fatigue or irritability; persistent productive cough; thick nasal discharge; conjunctivitis; fever (child should be fever-free without medication for 24 hours before class); vomiting or diarrhea (anytime within the previous 24 hours before class); inflamed throat; or suspicious rash. In addition, a child being treated with antibiotics should be on the drug for at least 24 hours before class.

Make-up Classes

I am happy to allow students who miss a class to make up that class. Simply call in advance to schedule make-ups. Classes will be made up in the event of inclement weather or teacher illness. If Wake County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, classes will be cancelled for that day unless I contact you otherwise. These classes will be made up at the end of the semester. If Wake County has a snow delay, classes will proceed as scheduled.

Parent Socializing

Since one of the key goals in to enhance the parent/caregiver and child relationship, please refrain from lengthy conversations with other parents during class. When you are an active, focused and enthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully too.

Scholarships

I'm pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships each semester. If you know of someone who is in need of a scholarship, please contact me.
