Movement, Music and Literacy

This course is specifically designed for children between 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 years of age. The curriculum integrates movement, music and literacy. It is designed in a non-sequential format (children can enter a unit at any given time); each unit provides a variety of activities that encourage creativity, exploration, language, movement and social development.

Kindermusik recognizes that the parent is the child's most important teacher and is vital to her child's learning success. Classes are also designed to help parents understand their child's development and introduce creative new ideas for playful parent-child interaction.

Benefits for Your Child and You

  • Recognizes your child's need for the freedom to explore on his/her own, with the comforting assurance of your support.
  • Educates you about the interplay of music, movement and literacy in your child's development.
Promotes joyful music-making together with other families.
  • Helps build characteristics essential for success in school: self-confidence, curiosity, self-expression, social skills and cooperation.

Plus every Kindermusik Our Time® class provides a set of At Home Materials (literature books, CD, instrument and more).

Is my child ready for this stage of Kindermusik?

The Kindermusik philosophy springs from genuine respect for each child's individual rate of development. Class activities and at-home materials are designed to honor, support and celebrate the uniqueness of each child. Classes have overlapping age ranges to help parents accommodate their child's own needs.

While a child should be at least the minimum age to enroll in any given class, the guidelines in the right column will help guide your decision about when to enroll her/him in the next stage.
